The retrial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has begun at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
He faces seven charges related to terrorism and treasonous activities.
The first hearing in the case took place on Tuesday, April 29.
During the proceedings, a security officer was the first witness to testify.
This officer led the operation that captured Nnamdi Kanu in 2015 when he had just returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
Nnamdi Kanu has pleaded not guilty to all charges of terrorism and treason against him.
The next hearing in this trial is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 2, with the following one set for May 6.
It is important to note that after his arrest in 2015, Nnamdi Kanu was released on bail due to health concerns. He later fled Nigeria following a police raid on his house.
After several years on the run, Nnamdi Kanu was rearrested in 2021 in Kenya and forcibly returned to Nigeria.
