In Togo, the opposition National Alliance for Change (ANC) has strongly condemned the arrest of activist and artist AAMRON, also known as Narcisse Essowoè TCHALA.
AAMRON was arrested by state security forces in Lomé on the night of May 26, 2025. His detention has sparked concerns over increasing repression of dissenting voices in the country.
The ANC has accused the ruling government of sliding toward authoritarianism, citing a pattern of targeting outspoken youth and activists.
They are calling for AAMRON’s immediate release and urging national and international actors to speak out against the government’s actions.
