In Togo, the Association of Victims of Torture in Togo (ASVITTO) has strongly condemned the arrest of several young people following protests on June 6 in Lomé.
The association expressed deep concern over what it describes as arbitrary detentions and a growing climate of fear surrounding peaceful demonstrations.
ASVITTO is calling for the immediate release of those detained and urges authorities to respect human rights and due process.
The group also appealed for calm and dialogue amid rising political tensions in the country.
