Togo’s National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) is intensifying awareness efforts around its Handbook for the Management of Complaints for Children. The move aims to ensure young people understand that they have the right to report abuses and defend their rights.
Despite the validation of a national complaints mechanism in 2019, officials say many children remain unaware of how to use it. The CNDH notes that persistent gaps in awareness continue to limit children’s ability to seek help when their rights are violated.
The new awareness campaign focuses on educating children, families, and schools on how the mechanism works and how complaints can be filed safely and confidentially.
Authorities say strengthening children’s knowledge of their rights is essential to building a more protective environment and ensuring that every child in Togo can speak out without fear.
