Togolese artist Aameron has publicly apologized to President Faure Gnassingbé and the state, following his arrest last week.
In a video from a psychiatric center in Lomé, Aameron acknowledged violating national laws and accepted the legitimacy of the legal action against him.
He was arrested on May 26–27 for statements deemed insulting to authorities. His detention and psychiatric placement have since sparked outrage from family and fellow artists.
A demonstration is planned in Lomé on Friday, calling for his release.
