Togo’s health authorities have stepped up public awareness efforts following the confirmation of two Mpox (monkeypox) cases in the Greater Lomé region.

The Ministry of Health is urging residents to follow preventive measures, including frequent handwashing, mask-wearing, and avoiding close contact with infected individuals or contaminated items.

Officials stress that the virus can also spread through sexual contact and respiratory secretions, making public vigilance crucial.

With patients receiving care in specialized facilities, the government has pledged continued monitoring to avoid a wider health crisis.
