Political tensions in Togo continue to rise following the December 2 address by the President of the Council. The opposition coalition, Dynamique pour la Majorité du Peuple (DMP), has sharpened its criticism, warning that the country’s political legitimacy crisis is deepening.

At a press conference in Lomé, the DMP presented the conclusions of its recent seminar, which focused on the persistent governance challenges and the widening gap between citizens and state institutions. Leaders of the coalition argued that the current situation requires urgent and genuine political dialogue.

The event also gave the DMP an opportunity to reiterate its concerns about the country’s sociopolitical climate. The coalition pointed to growing public frustration and the need for reforms that can restore confidence in national leadership.

With political reactions intensifying, the DMP urged authorities to prioritize transparency and inclusive decision-making. The coalition maintains that addressing the legitimacy crisis is essential to ensuring stability and preventing further escalation of tensions.
