In Togo, the People’s Majority Movement (DMP) has condemned the arrest of several young protesters by state authorities.
In a statement released Wednesday, the political coalition described the detentions as arbitrary, accusing security forces of engaging in kidnappings and heavy-handed tactics.
The arrests reportedly followed three days of demonstrations in June 2025, where protesters demanded political reforms and greater freedoms.
DMP leaders say a fresh demonstration will be held on August 30 to call for the release of all detained youths.
