Togo has recorded a milestone in its development journey, officially moving from the category of low Human Development Index (HDI) countries to medium HDI status.
The announcement was made in the latest report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), presented on Monday. The HDI measures progress in life expectancy, education, and gross domestic product.
According to officials, this marks the first time Togo has risen to this level, reflecting improvements in health, education, and economic performance.
The achievement is being celebrated as a sign of the country’s ongoing progress, while policymakers are urged to build on the momentum to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.
