Togo marked its annual National Tree Day on Sunday with the launch of a major reforestation campaign aimed at curbing deforestation and tackling climate change.

The initiative comes as the World Meteorological Organization warns of rising global temperatures between 2025 and 2029, heightening concerns about environmental degradation.

Observed since 1977, National Tree Day encourages citizens to take active steps toward protecting the environment through tree planting and sustainable practices.

This year, the government’s campaign signals a renewed national effort to restore forest cover and build resilience against climate threats.
