In Togo, the safety of journalists took center stage during the celebration of World Radio Day 2026. Media professionals gathered to reflect on the challenges facing practitioners and the need to safeguard press freedom in the country.

The event was organized by the Media Foundation for West Africa in collaboration with the Union of Independent Journalists of Togo, drawing participation from journalists and media stakeholders.

Under this year’s theme, “Radio and Artificial Intelligence,” discussions also explored how emerging technologies are reshaping the media landscape. Participants noted that while artificial intelligence opens new avenues for innovation and content creation, it also raises fresh concerns about ethics, security, and professional standards.
