Togo has reduced the deposit fee for candidates contesting the July 10, 2025 municipal elections. The amount has been slashed from 50,000 to 25,000 CFA francs, following a presidential decree.
A special rate of 12,500 CFA francs has also been introduced for female candidates to encourage more women to run for local office.
The move comes after political parties raised the issue during the 20th session of the Permanent and Consultative Framework earlier this week.
Authorities say the decision aims to promote greater inclusivity and strengthen democratic participation across the country.
