In Togo, over three million registered voters are casting their ballots today to elect municipal councilors across the country’s 117 municipalities.

More than a thousand councilors are expected to be chosen in these local elections.

Ahead of the vote, Togolese citizens observed a traditional day of electoral silence on Wednesday. Meanwhile, some influencers and bloggers had called for nationwide demonstrations on July 16 and 17.
