Togo’s National Alliance for Change (ANC), an opposition party, has declared its intention to boycott the upcoming senatorial elections scheduled for February next year.
In a statement released over the weekend, the ANC criticized the elections as part of a broader rejection of the recently adopted constitution, which transitions Togo toward a parliamentary system of governance. The party described its boycott as a deliberate step in opposing what it sees as an unfair political structure imposed by the government.
