In Côte d’Ivoire, Tidjane Thiam has been re-elected president of the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI) at the party’s 9th extraordinary congress in Abidjan.
The move comes just days after Thiam’s resignation, seen as a legal strategy to shield the party from potential judicial intervention.
Thiam, a well-known figure in both politics and business, pledged to reinforce the party’s influence ahead of national elections.
Despite his victory, ongoing legal disputes concerning his electoral status continue to stir controversy within party ranks.
