Three people have died and seven others were injured when a mosque collapsed in the Papa Ajao area of Mushin, Lagos State, on Sunday.

The mosque, located on Yusuf Street off Ladipo Road, collapsed while prayer was ongoing.

According to the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Osanyintolu, the final casualty report showed three fatalities and seven casualties of varying severity. The affected buildings were completely leveled.

Responders at the scene included LASEMA’s response team, the LRU Fire unit, Lagos State Fire Service, LASBCA, NEMA, Nigeria Police, LNSC, FRSC, and LASAMBUS.

Photos and videos on social media captured the mosque in ruins, with residents trying to assist in the rescue efforts.
