A team of 60 investigators is investigating a high-profile robbery of the Louvre museum that occurred on Sunday.
At least eight priceless items were stolen by the thieves, who are four in number.
The jewellery taken includes an emerald-and-diamond necklace that Napoleon gave his wife, Empress Marie Louise. Shortly after, French President Emmanuel Macron promised that the thieves would be caught and the items they stole recovered.
Everything is being done, everywhere, to achieve this, under the leadership of the Paris prosecutor’s office,” he said in a statement on social media.
The heist, one of several to target French museums in recent months, forced the closure of the Louvre, the world’s most-visited museum and home to the Mona Lisa.
