Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) continue to play a vital role in shaping peace and resolving conflicts across West Africa.
In countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and Côte d’Ivoire, Civil Society Organization (CSOs) s have mediated ethnic and religious tensions, championed reintegration of ex-combatants, empowered women and youth, and developed early warning systems.
From grassroots peace education in Ghana’s northern regions to women-led protests in Côte d’Ivoire and community reconciliation in Nigeria’s Plateau State, CSOs often fill the gaps left by formal institutions.
However, questions around sustainability, coordination, political independence, and shrinking civic space persist.
Understanding their strategies, challenges, and impact is essential for strengthening peace infrastructure in the region.
Our guests are two civil society activists, Lazarus Mom, Chair of Benue NGOs Network and Abubakar Sadiq Muazu, Founder and Executive Director of the Centre for Advocacy, Transparency, and Accountability Initiative (CATAI)
