The Gambia has embarked on a nationwide oral polio vaccination beginning on Tuesday, 12 November, 2024.
The first of the campaign, which will last for three days ahead of the second phase in December, is targeting over 400,000 under the age of five.
Although the Gambia is polio free, the country deemed it necessary to embark on the campaign after a polio virus was detected in the sewage in the greater Banjul area.
