In The Gambia, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised serious concerns about the growing number of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers embarking on irregular migration journeys.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commission warned that these vulnerable groups face heightened dangers along perilous migration routes, exposing them to severe risks that threaten their safety, dignity, and fundamental rights.
The NHRC stressed that irregular migration frequently leads to violations of the rights to health, protection, and development, urging stronger safeguards to protect those most at risk.
