The United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel is calling calls for greater efforts in the implementation of ECOWAS Community Court of Justice rulings by member countries.
These comments were made at the Forum on the Participation of NGOs at the 79th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights in Banjul.
UNOWAS commended the CSOs for mounting pressure on member countries to respect various rulings made by the court. The UN systems and human rights advocates registered their commitment to defending human rights.
Despite many hurdles, the court’s role in promoting human rights within the ECOWAS region remains vital, signaling a commitment to justice and the rule of law.
