This episode rode through a medium of communication…discussing ‘’The Importance of Radio in the Existing Digital Era.’’ And young people’s involvement with radio….
As you may be aware, the world celebrated radio on Tuesday, February 13. The decision to set World Radio Day on the 13th of February every year follows a proclamation in 2011 by the member states of UNESCO, which was later endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly on January 14, 2013, as an international day.
However, it is generally believed that the first radio transmission was made by Guglielmo Marconi in 1895, and broadcasting of music and talk that was aimed towards a wider audience came into existence, sometimes around 1905-1906.
The radio as the traditional media came into existence commercially in the early 1920s, but in this 21st century, here come the new media, including the Internet with technological platforms undermining the radio by widely updating the world with the latest information, and entertainment through Facebook, X formerly Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and you name it.
With all these factors, guests of the edition explored the significance of radio amid the digital era, plus recommendations for sustaining the invaluable essence of the radio.
