In Ghana, the Supreme Court has annulled a High Court directive instructing the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate and declare results for four contested parliamentary constituencies: Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, and Techiman South.
However, the court upheld the re-collation order for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Ahafo Ano North constituencies.
A unanimous decision by a five-member panel, led by Justice Gabriel Pwamang, ruled that the High Court violated the rights of interested parties, including the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its parliamentary candidates, by failing to allow them to present their case despite their vested interest in the disputed outcomes.
The Supreme Court has instructed the reassignment of the case to a different High Court judge for fresh proceedings, set to commence on December 31. Parties involved are to file their respective statements by December 29.
