President John Mahama has referred three petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo to the Council of State, setting in motion a constitutional process that could impact Ghana’s judiciary.
In response, the Chief Justice has formally requested copies of the petitions, arguing that she must be given an opportunity to respond before further action is taken.
Meanwhile, the matter has also reached the Supreme Court, where a case has been filed challenging the procedure.
We hit the streets of Accra to pick the views of some Ghanaians on the ongoing matter.
