On the street parliament, we hear from a section of Ghanaians on the government’s decision to scale down this year’s Independence Day celebrations on March 6.
According to the government, the decision is due to the rising costs of the traditional rotation of the celebrations among different regions which has now been paused.
The ceremony will now take place at the presidency – the Jubilee House – and feature a limited number of guests, including chiefs, religious leaders, and school representatives with highlights including a military guard of honour as well as an address by President John Dramani Mahama.
Have a listen to some Ghanaians on the streets of Accra
