A statue of Ghana’s former President Nana Akufo-Addo at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi has been vandalized by unknown individuals. The damage includes the severing of the statue’s head and breaking of other parts.
This is the second incident involving the statue, as it was previously tampered with but later repaired. The statue, unveiled on November 6, 2024, has faced public criticism, with residents questioning its location amidst poor road conditions in the area.
The vandalism follows Akufo-Addo’s conclusion of his presidential term on January 6, 2025. An investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the act.
