Guinean authorities have released Sierra Leonean soldiers who were arrested and detained earlier this week, according to a statement issued Friday by Freetown.

The release follows days of tension between the two neighboring countries.

The arrests were linked to a long-standing border dispute between Sierra Leone and Guinea, particularly in Sierra Leone’s Faraba district.

Abdullahi Hassan reports.
