Sierra Leone’s Parliament has elected a female Member of Parliament, Hon. Neneh Lebbie, to serve as Acting Speaker. This decision aligns with Section 88 of Act No.6 of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone.
Hon. Lebbie was unanimously elected to preside over Parliament in the absence of both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker, who are currently engaged in official duties outside the country.
After her election, Hon. Lebbie expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in her by her fellow parliamentarians to lead the Sixth Parliament as Acting Speaker.
