The Sierra Leonean government has confirmed that 52 of its citizens are currently in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) awaiting deportation.

The disclosure was made on Wednesday by Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister, Timothy Musa Kabba.

The confirmation highlights the human impact of the ongoing diplomatic standoff between Freetown and Washington over immigration compliance.
