In Senegal, the opposition Takku Walu coalition has submitted a petition to the Constitutional Council, challenging the recently adopted interpretative bill tied to the controversial Amnesty Law.
The bill, passed by the National Assembly, seeks to clarify aspects of the law, including the exclusion of blood crimes from amnesty coverage.
At a press conference Wednesday, opposition leaders argued that the law undermines justice and does not reflect the will or best interest of Senegalese citizens.
They are demanding immediate legal review, fearing the law may shield individuals from accountability as Macky Sall’s era ends.
