Senegal’s Constitutional Council has yet again ruled on a major electoral code ahead of the legislative elections scheduled for November 17.
Electorates will go to the polls on this day to elect their representatives following the anticipated dissolution of the 14th legislature by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Thursday.
As required by law, candidates seeking elective positions must collect a certain amount of sponsorship to qualify to participate in the vote.
However, per the Constitutional Council’s Friday decision, Candidates of the parliamentary elections due in 2 months do not need to fulfil this obligation.
