Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye recently concluded a productive friendship and work visit, during which he met with Mali’s transitional president, Colonel Assimi Goita.
The discussions focused on several key issues, including the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the security sector.
A significant topic of conversation was Mali’s withdrawal from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). President Faye emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue and urged the leaders of the junta to maintain an open mind towards rejoining ECOWAS.
He also encouraged Burkina Faso’s junta leader, Ibrahim Traoré, to stay receptive to dialogue, aiming for a lasting resolution to the region’s concerns.
