The Senegalese National Assembly on Wednesday adopted the amnesty bill relating to events occurring during political demonstrations between 2021 and 2024.
The newly passed law grants amnesty for “all acts that could be deemed criminal or punishable offenses committed between February 1, 2021, and February 25, 2024, whether within Senegal or abroad, and connected to demonstrations or political motivations.
President Macky Sall who initiated the bill clarified that his decision aims to pacify the social atmosphere and fortify national unity.
