The Senegalese govt have launched a national action plan to combat human trafficking.
The launch in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes UNODC commemorates this year’s International Day against Trafficking in Persons themed, Let’s leave no child behind in the fight against human trafficking.”
The 2024 occasion is dedicated to children who represent a significant proportion of trafficked victims worldwide, with girls being disproportionately affected.
In the case of Senegal, UNODC says trafficking is on the increase, particularly on gold mining sites in the Kedougou region.
