The Senegalese govt has declared that over 344 political detainees have been released since February 15, 2024, in the capital city Dakar, as part of the political discussions initiated by President Macky Sall.
Minister of Justice Aïssata Tall Sall, addressing the media in a press conference on Tuesday, clarified the situations of opposition figures Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko.
She emphasized that the government’s decision to grant provisional release is based on the evaluation of individual cases, considering objective criteria rather than social or political status.
