Senegal has launched a bold new initiative to boost the country’s climate resilience. The project, called “Bringing Coherence to National and Subnational Adaptation Planning,” is led by the Ministry of the Environment and Ecological Transition.

Backed by the Green Climate Fund and UNDP, the project has a budget of nearly $2.6 million. It aims to finalize National Adaptation Plans for ten priority sectors and set a clear roadmap for climate-related reforms and investments.

The launch event was marked by praise from UNDP’s Resident Representative, Catherine Phuong, who commended Senegal’s efforts to build an inclusive and forward-thinking climate strategy.

Authorities say the project will play a critical role in shaping sustainable development, ensuring that both national and local plans are aligned in tackling the growing threat of climate change.
