In a significant move toward accountability, Senegal’s National Assembly has approved the trial of five former ministers from ex-President Macky Sall’s government.
The ministers will be prosecuted by the High Court of Justice—the only institution with the mandate to try former state officials. The decision follows a request from the Ministry of Justice and was backed by a parliamentary majority on Thursday.
This marks a strong signal from the new administration, which has prioritized transparency and justice in public office.
