Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko says the government will move ahead with plans to renegotiate several contracts in the telecommunications, water, and mining sectors.
Speaking to the press, Sonko said the decision follows findings that the state had suffered major financial losses under existing agreements.
He cited a review conducted by a government committee tasked with examining contracts signed by previous administrations.
According to the Prime Minister, the review uncovered serious irregularities and revenue shortfalls, prompting the government to begin renegotiating key agreements.
