Senegal’s Ministry of Family and Solidarity has announced plans to compensate victims of political demonstrations between 2021 and 2024. The initiative aims to provide relief to those affected by years of unrest.

At a press conference, Minister Maimouna Dieye disclosed that over 2,000 detainees and victims have been identified, with 79 confirmed fatalities. The government’s move signals an effort to address the human cost of past political tensions.

While details on the compensation process are still emerging, authorities stress their commitment to ensuring justice and support for affected individuals and families.

The announcement comes amid ongoing calls for political stability and reconciliation, as Senegal looks to move forward from recent unrest.
