In Senegal, the Armed Forces Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIRPA) has reported a tragic accident involving Senegalese troops deployed in the Central African Republic.

The incident, which occurred on Friday during a liaison patrol near the village of Yenga—22 kilometres from Bouar—resulted in the death of one soldier and injuries to seven others, five of whom are in serious condition.

The vehicle transporting the soldiers ran off the road, though the exact cause of the accident has not yet been disclosed, highlighting the risks associated with field missions in challenging deployment areas.

The troops involved are part of a 180-person rapid reaction contingent deployed since May 31, 2025, under the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
