Senegal and Guinea-Bissau have signed a landmark peace agreement aimed at ending decades of conflict in Casamance, Senegal’s southern region.
The deal, reached during an official visit by Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to Bissau, follows high-level talks with Bissau-Guinean President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.
The agreement marks a significant step toward stability and regional cooperation, with both nations committing to security collaboration, conflict resolution, and economic development. Given Guinea-Bissau’s proximity to Casamance, its role in the peace process is seen as crucial for ensuring long-term stability.
