The candidacy of former Macky Sall for the position of United Nations Secretary-General has been formally confirmed.
His application was submitted by Évariste Ndayishimiye, the Burundian President and current Chairperson of the African Union.
Sall is seeking to succeed António Guterres as UN chief. However, some Senegalese citizens have questioned his capacity to lead the organisation, citing concerns over his record while in office.
Christopher Atitso has more details on the developing debate.
