In Senegal, a protest march is scheduled for Saturday in Dakar calling for the release of 18 Senegalese football supporters detained in Morocco.
The supporters were handed prison sentences of up to one year on charges of hooliganism.
Ahead of the planned demonstration, a group of citizens submitted a memorandum to the Moroccan Embassy in Dakar on Thursday, urging authorities to facilitate their release.
Organisers say the mobilisation seeks stronger coordination and collective advocacy around the case. Blaise Niang, President of the Legal Commission of the ASC Lebougui supporters’ group, has been speaking on the issue.
