In Senegal, the Market Regulation Agency (ARM) has announced that onion imports will cease starting Saturday to promote local production and regulate the market ahead of the onion marketing campaign in February.
This decision has been welcomed by the Senegalese Onion Interprofessional Association, which sees it as a boost for local farmers despite potential challenges.
Malick Gueye, Secretary General of the Onion Interprofessional Association in Dagana, Saint-Louis region, expressed optimism about the upcoming campaign, emphasizing the need for adequate support to meet market demands.
