Over 200 fact-checking organizations and information experts from across Africa have gathered in Dakar for the 2025 Africa Fact-Checking Summit. The event focuses on tackling the growing challenge of disinformation on the continent.
This year’s edition, themed “Strengthening Information Integrity, Preserving Democracy,” is supported by KAS Media Africa and marks the first time the summit is being hosted in a French-speaking country.
Participants are discussing strategies to sustain fact-checking initiatives in Africa, while also examining their role in countering climate change misinformation.
Organizers say the summit underscores the importance of reliable information in protecting democratic values.
