In Senegal, former President Macky Sall is pushing back after lawmakers from the ruling PASTEF party initiated impeachment proceedings against him.
The legislators accuse Sall of mismanaging national resources, alleging his involvement in a hidden debt deal reportedly confirmed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In response, the former president’s legal team held a press conference on Thursday to refute the claims and denounce what they described as a politically motivated attack.
The development marks a sharp escalation in tensions between Sall and the current administration, as the political climate in Dakar grows increasingly charged.
