West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) on Thursday convened a public debate focused on the escalating security crisis in the Central Sahel and its spillover risks for Senegal.
Held under the theme “Security Situation in the Central Sahel and on the Doorstep of Senegal: Effects, Challenges, Strategies, and Solutions,” the event drew diverse participants including security experts, policymakers, civil society actors, youth, and community leaders.
Discussions explored the rise of armed groups, regional instability, and the urgent need for collaborative strategies to protect Senegal’s borders and communities.
Participants called for a stronger national security framework, cross-border intelligence sharing, and community-based resilience initiatives to counter emerging threats.
