Senegalese Customs have intercepted a major counterfeit currency operation, seizing 4,700 fake €500 banknotes valued at approximately 1.5 billion CFA francs during a bust in Silinkine, southern Senegal.
The raid took place on May 15, 2025, around 5 p.m., near Oulampane in the Bignona department, following intelligence about an attempt to “launder black money.”
Authorities say investigations are underway to identify and dismantle the network behind the operation.
