Senegal’s Ministry of Health has reported 140 confirmed cases of Rift Valley fever (RVF), including 18 deaths, as of October 9, 2025. The Saint-Louis region in the north remains the hardest hit, recording 130 infections, with 91 patients now recovered.
According to the report, the Richard-Toll district leads with 74 cases, followed by Saint-Louis with 44 and Dagana with 8. Other affected areas include Louga, Matam, and Fatick, which have reported 4, 5, and 1 case respectively.
Health authorities also confirmed six cases of MPOX since August 22, all detected in the Dakar region, with one recovery and no deaths.
The Ministry has urged the public to remain vigilant, adhere to preventive measures, and cooperate with health workers to contain the spread of both diseases.
