In Senegal, Amnesty International has called for a review of the Family Code, particularly Article 277, to enhance women’s participation in decision-making processes.
The appeal was made during a workshop in Dakar themed “Strategies to harmonize Senegalese family law with international and regional frameworks on women’s rights.” Activists at the event emphasized the need for advocacy to eliminate discriminatory provisions in the Family Code and advance gender parity.
Amnesty International underscored the importance of aligning national laws with international agreements to ensure women’s full and equal participation across all sectors of society.
